At Sanctuary Park Rescue, fostering is at the heart of what we do. When you welcome an animal into your home, you give them safety, comfort, and the chance to heal—often for the very first time. Your patience and love help prepare them for adoption and give them the stability they need to thrive.

Fostering means temporarily caring for a rescue animal in your home until they are adopted. Foster families provide daily care, love, and a safe environment while SPR handles the medical care, supplies, and adoption process.
Many of the animals we rescue come from difficult situations, including abandonment, neglect, or life on the streets. A foster home gives them the chance to decompress, heal, and learn what it means to be part of a family.
Foster homes provide the day-to-day care for the animal, including:
• Safe indoor housing
• Food and fresh water
• Basic care and supervision
• Transportation to veterinary appointments (when possible)
• Helping us learn the pet's personality so we can find the best adopter
Fosters also help by taking photos, sharing the pet on social media, and telling us about their behavior so we can match them with the right home.
SPR provides and coordinates:
• Veterinary care
• Spay/neuter surgery (if of appropriate age)
• Vaccinations and medical treatment
• Foster supplies to include food, crates, beds, and other necessary supplies
• Adoption screening and placement
• Guidance and support throughout the foster period
Our team stays in contact with foster families and is here to help if questions or issues arise.
The length of time varies depending on the animal. Some may only need a few weeks, while others may stay longer until they are fully vetted and adopted. We always work to place animals in permanent homes as quickly as possible.
